WOW, what an amazing weekend. Last year Eric and I won a trip to Pine Creek Farm (on a 125 acres, up the mountains, past Benton, PA) near Rickets Glenn State Park. Lisa and Jim came with us. I didn’t know what to expect of the trip. I was thinking lots of hiking and outdoors stuff that I would not want to do for a full weekend. Boy was I wrong!!!!!! The place was amazing. The house was awesome. Large kitchen, 5 bedrooms, incredible library, fire wood stove, fully loaded with kitchen needs, blankets, toys, books and much more. A lovely wrap around porch filled with rocking chairs and a hanging swing. A very large fun pond that is healthy and filled with life. There was also a canoe that you can paddle around the pond to enjoy the view, feel the sun beating on you and fish all the way around. The kids were ecstatic about it all. They loved every second of the vacation weekend. When we first got there they could not understand how someone can have a house without T.V. They never once missed it or wanted to be inside. Eric took us all on canoe rides and we fished in the pond. I caught my first two fish ever. It was so much fun. All of the kids caught fish all weekend. Nicholas rocked the pond with catching them. Both nights we lit a fire outside in the fire pit and roasted marshmellows. One day we went to Rickets Glenn Park and took a short hike and saw a beautiful water fall. We BBQ-ed both nights and brought food for breakfast, lunch and snacks. We rocked on the porch, played with tad poles and even took a bunch home for the kids to bring into their class rooms. Gianna lost her first tooth on the dock. The kids swam in the pond on the last day and enjoyed it so much. Eric was in his glory that he can walk out the door and catch Bass. The entire property was incredible. The kids asked a hundred times if we could stay another night, when can we go back and can we stay for a week next time (even if it cost us all of the money we have – that was Gigi). Nicholas cried his eyes out when it was time to leave. I have a feeling we are going to create many family memories there.
